‘Red Dead Online’ to receive massive update, including new pursuits

Red Dead Online is set to receive a “massive” update at the end of July. It will include a new Frontier Pursuit, as well as tonnes of community-requested features.

Red Dead Online update: What you need to know

When will the update be available?

The update will roll out on Tuesday 28 July 2020. While details pertaining to the Frontier Pursuit are yet to be revealed, Rockstar promised that it will be “an all-new role focused on naturalism”.

Furthermore, the Frontier Pursuit update will also include a new Outlaw Pass; a variety of community requested features and several fixes. Rockstar promised that more features will be added in due course.

Fans were so desperate for an update that some communities created lists of content for downloadable content (DLC), which included ideas on how Rockstar could expand the Pursuit roles.

Why an update now?

Well, first of all, it’s about damn time. Secondly, refer to the first point. Earlier this month, gamers protested the game’s lack of support and updates by dressing as clowns.

That said, the protest didn’t have much to do with the rollout of the new Frontier Pursuit update. Rockstar has already been working on it for quite so time, and did a fine job of keeping details about the update under wraps.

All we know is that it will be a “massive”, it will arrive on 28 July 2020 and that it includes a ton of goodies. Rockstar’s press release stated:

“Players can expect a massive new update to arrive Tuesday, 28 July; featuring a new Frontier Pursuit that will introduce players to the secrets of naturalism as part of an all-new Role. Plus a new Outlaw Pass, tons of community-requested features and fixes; and much more to play and discover in the months to come.”

Rockstar clamps down on abuse

The team at Rockstar thanked the community for their support and reiterated that they are “committed to ensuring that [Rockstar] games are fun for everyone and as safe as possible from modders, cheaters, hackers and those who seek to harass other players”.

This followed after Rockstar had to take action against “hundreds of thousands of players caught violating community rules across both games. [Red Dead Online and GTA].”

Rockstar urgers the community to assist them in creating a fun and safe environment. Players can report cheating, either directly in-game or via the web reporting tools available for both online games.
