‘Street Fighter V’ and ‘PUBG’ [video]

Here is a look at the free PS4 games for September: Street Fighter V and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (also known as PUBG). If you forgot about August’s free games, you have but a few hours to download. Go!

Sony PS Plus Games for September

PS Plus subscribers get two free games every month. Both titles – Street Fighter V and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be available from 4 September.

Both games are record-breakers in their respective genres; PUBG has paved the way for the likes of Fortnite and Warzone, while Streetfighter V is without a doubt one of the most popular fighting franchises.

‘Street Fighter V’

Street Fighter V was published by Capcom back in 2016, followed by the arcade edition in 2018. Similar to the previous games in the series, Street Fighter V features a side-scrolling fighting gameplay system.

The story follows the events of Street Fighter III, when Charlie Nash wakes in a tomb. He is instructed by a woman named Helen to retrieve an item from an old friend to destroy his nemesis.

Tamoor Hussain from GameSpot ranks Street Fighter V as ‘superb’ with a 9/10 rating; it has “always been a strong fighting game that continues to get better over time, but it remained a game for genre enthusiasts”.

“With a slick new interface, fully-featured online and offline modes, and every character released thus far, Street Fighter V feels like a complete package”.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)’ on PSN

Ah, PUBG. The online multiplayer battle royal game was developed and published by the PUBG Corporation back in 2017. PUBG has since then paved the way for the likes of Fortnite.

“The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene for other games, inspired by the 2000 Japanese film ‘Battle Royale‘.”

While some might argue that PUBG is not relevant anymore, it most definitely “still more than deserves a place at the top table”, according to PushSquare’s 8/10 review.

According to PushSquare, “PUBG manages to differentiate itself from its battle royale progeny with its more tactical spin on the formula, even with its obvious lack of presentational prowess”.

While its grounded approach can be brutal at first, if you take the time to immerse yourself in its stress-inducing battles, you’ll find yourself involved in epic engagements that will have you sharing your successes – and failures – with anyone willing to listen.
