What is ‘Song of Horror’

According to Protocol Games, the release will “comprise of all five episodes in one package”. This allows console players to take on a “thrilling paranormal story where the threat of The Presence” lingers.

The Presence is a dark entity that reacts to your way of playing. It looms large throughout the game in one seamless flow. You’ll have to investigate the mystery of the disappearance of Sebastian P. Husher.

He’s a famed but elusive writer who vanished without a trace, along with his entire family. The game draws heavy from Lovecraftian horror, and the focus is on hiding and surviving instead of fighting your way through.

‘Song of Horror’ gameplay

It’s a third-person adventure game and you get to play any one of 13 different characters. In short, Song of Horror pays homage to the classic masterpieces of the survival-horror genre.

Stay silent in the midst of all the terror to avoid triggering unnerving manifestations, capable of bringing the game’s line-up to the brink of insanity.

With Song of Horror’s ever-present foe The Presence keeping players on their toes from the get-go, the mission is to “keep you severely spooked” from start to finish. Sounds like a blast!

‘Song of Horror’ release date

Protocol Games is celebrating the first anniversary of the game’s debut on PC, a title that’s been in development for more than six years in total. What better way to celebrate than by releasing it on console?

Studio co-founder Carlos Grupeli said the team has been “blown away by the reception” the game had on PC, and that it’s now time to “broaden the game’s base and reach out to console players”.

“The survival-horror genre has such a history on both PlayStation and Xbox that it feels only right to bring our little ode to all that has gone before to an audience that truly appreciates real scares”.

Song of Horror is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One on 29 October 2020. We have requested early access to review the game ahead of its release. Stay tuned.
