Here’s what we know about the mysterious event
According to official twitter page of UK retailer, Game Guildford, a PS5 announcement is set to take place today. Here’s what we know about the rumoured event.
Like clockwork, the rumoured Playstation 5 (PS5) announcement began doing the rounds on the same day Mircosoft unveiled its second next-gen console, the Xbox Series S, “smallest Xbox ever”.
PS5 announcement: Updates and rumours
Why 9 September?
It’s no coincidence that 9 September is the 25th anniversary of the release of the PlayStation 1. Some would say it’s the perfect day for a PS5 announcement, and we’re here for it.
But wait, there’s more. UK retailer Game Guildford may have hinted at the Sony PS5 event as well. In a now-deleted tweet, Game Guildford said:
“Those awaiting pre-orders and have Ryi: please stand by for updates. PS5 have scheduled an announcement tomorrow so things are about to kick off this week.”
Other than Game in the UK teasing an event for 9 September, PlayStation 5 leakster @foxygames_uk posted a tweet with the caption, “SEPTEMBER #PS5”, along with an image of the 2009 animated movie 9.
Release date and price
We’ve already seen all the game trailers, we know how the DuelSense Controller work and we have seen the PS5 Digital Edition in detail. Now, we’re just waiting for a release date and retail selling price.
Sony has yet to confirm both pricing and an official release day for the PS5, thus far only revealing bits and pieces about the next-gen hardware and DuelSense Controllers.
Knowing Sony, they could spring the event on us at any time today. Watch this space, we will update this article as and when new information becomes available.
