Special Edition’ confirmed at PS5 showcase [video]

Devil May Cry was once dubbed as one of the more superior action games of its generation. It’s no surprise then that Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, was confirmed at the Playstation 5 showcase.

The game would be a digital launch for the next generation of consoles. The physical version of the game will have a much later release date.

‘Devil May Cry’ 5 announcement

Initially, Capcom had been silent on whether or not a Devil May Cry game would be added to the roster. It’s a good decision to revisit one of their best titles, with the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

One new edition of the game is the appearance of Vergil, Dante’s twin brother, who returns as a playable character.

Matt Walker, the producer of Devil May Cry 5, went on to explain what upgrades have been modified under the hood, speaking about the new ray tracing technology.

Moreover, this would ensure that the Special Edition, would complement the capabilities of the next-gen consoles. The engine would be able to “calculate light bounces, and therefore draw truly dynamic reflections and provide even more realistic lighting and shadows.”

This will also allow players the option to prioritise graphical fidelity or performance.

Watch: Special edition trailer

The new trailer dropped on the Playstation Youtube channel as well as the Devil May Cry Channel. In addition, the trailer opens up with Vergil speaking about fate and how it would have been different, had they swapped places.

The first parts of the trailer are in Vergil’s point of view, giving a nod to his playable capabilities. It then opens up to the pretty awesome, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition logo.

Epic music starts playing and Matt Walker confirms the song is Virgil’s battle theme, Bury The Light. The song would be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube on Monday the 21st of September.
