‘Guilty Gear Strive’ release date finally confirmed [new trailer]

Arc System Works recently announced that Guilty Gear Strive will get released on 9 April 2021. It will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

For those who want an upgrade to the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, an update will also be available on 6 April 2021.

‘Guilty Gear Strive’ – What you should know

Guilty Gear Strive is Arc System Works’ most acclaimed fighting franchise; this instalment has improved on animations and new fighting mechanics. It’s a good starting point for newcomers, and it doesn’t sacrifice the series’ famous story depth.

It is probably the most hardcore combat game in the Arc System Works artillery, followed by Dragon Ball FighterZ which is more appealing to less-experienced gamers.

The release date was announced with a brand new trailer that shows how this instalment is a fresh start for the series which began in 1998, with the original Guilty Gear Strive for PlayStation.

The combat game shows off a striking visual style as well as hybrid 2D/3D cell-shaded graphics. It also comes armed with a fully voiced story mode which brings the story of Guilty Gear Strive to life.

The story itself spans almost 20 years, and the latest instalment will be the final chapter. Some new characters will be joining the fray to make for an impressive rollcall.

An intense anime battle

The line-up includes characters such as Ky Kiske, Potemkin, and Millia Rage and the game thankfully doesn’t ditch the 2D art of its predecessors. This gives the art a lot of detail, making the fights feel like an intense anime battle.

There are also 3D elements to the characters allowing them to portray emotions. This adds emotional weight to the fights.

The game was originally supposed to be released in 2020, but it was delayed to 2021 due to the pandemic.
