As the clock ticks down until we can finally get our hands on the latest Playstation console, Sony have taken the opportunity to look back on the current-gen console and the many memorable moments we shared on it.
The Playstation 4 has been around for nearly seven years.
That means that when I bought my PS4, Donald Trump was just a reality-tv star, Billie Eilish was about to turn 11, Robin Williams was still alive and Jacob Zuma was about to start his ill-fated second term in office.
With all the hype surrounding the Playstation 5, it’s easy to forget that consoles only exist to give life to video games. While the Playstation 5 and it’s next-gen technology will be looking to change the way games look and even the way they’re designed thanks to its super-fast SSD.
We shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that the PS4 has been toiling for years now to bring us great games and stories despite its technology now being the better part of 7 years old.

The Playstation 4 life cycle has blessed us with many truly memorable titles showcasing the ability of developers to tell stories and also squeeze every bit of performance possible out Sony’s second best selling console and the fourth best-selling console of all time.

The team at Sony have put together a nearly four-minute video to celebrate some of the games that helped make those seven years truly memorable for players. The video features 1 second of video from many iconic titles with some games getting some of their dialogue showcased as the montage streams by.
While the video showcases the usual suspects, it’s great to see a lot of great indie titles make the cut. Games like Don’t Starve and Resogun were helped to dispel the notion that only big AAA titles matter.
These games captured our imagination with rewarding and straightforward gameplay that kept us engaged for hours.
