San Andreas celebrates 16th anniversary
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas recently celebrated its 16th anniversary. It was one of those games I secretly played on my friend’s devices because it was not allowed at home due to its adult nature.
The legendary game was released on October 26, 2004, and was originally released for PlayStation 2, but was later released for Xbox and PC a year later, and is appreciated as the best in Rockstar’s GTA series.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
The story
The game is set in the fictional U.S. state of San Andreas, which is based on California and Nevada. It was one of the best-selling PlayStation 2 games of all time with over 27.5 million copies sold worldwide.
The game follows Carl Johnson, or CJ, whose mother has just been murdered. You have to try and find the truth behind the murder and team up with your old gang.
You will wreak havoc on San Andreas and drive multiple stylish cars that take you anywhere because of its open-environment feel.

The GTA franchise has some of the best mods in gaming, because of the GTA modding community which has created some of the most amazing game-changing mods ever, over the years.
San Andreas even had a few high-profile actors like James Woods who plays CIA agent Mike Toreno and Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the antagonist, Frank Tenpenny.
All of the voice actings were freakin’ amazing for the game, and it was really awesome to hear great actors and musicians from the 90s together in one game.
A customisable game
San Andreas is also a very customisable game in the Grand Theft Auto series as players are able to gain weight, become skinny, extremely muscular, or get tattoos. You can even purchase clothes from different stores, and change your hairstyle.
San Andreas also had one of the best radio stations in the series. Players could play country music, 80s music, and rap as well as tune in to ‘The talk show’ on West Coast Talk Radio.
The latter offered entertaining programs ranging from Area 53, a conspiracy show, to Lonely Hearts, a relationship advice show. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun, and I know I’m not the only gamer who has a special place in my heart for this game.
