New gaming laptops announced at this year’s virtual CES 2021

CES may be virtual this year, but that hasn’t stopped exhibitors from showcasing impressive tech. A few of the gaming laptop at this year’s event caught our attention. Here’s what you need to know about the ASUS TUF Dash F15 and Lenovo’s Legion 7.

ASUS TUF Dash F15

ASUS showcased a lightweight 15″ gaming laptop that weighs just 2kg and measures 19.9mm thin. The TUF Dash F15 is equipped with an 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11375H processor clocking up to 5GHz.

Coupled with a GeForce RTX™ 3070 GPU and 76 Wh battery to provide nearly 17 hours of continuous video playback, it has everything you could possibly want from a gaming laptop on-the-go.

In fact, you can get the Dash F15 from 0% to 50% in under 30 minutes, thanks to new fast-charging tech. What’s more, the Dash F15 is built on NVIDIA’s latest Ampere architecture.

“This all-new GPU blends traditional CUDA processing cores with 2nd generation RT and 3rd generation Tensor cores to accelerate ray tracing and artificial intelligence. This combination of cores enables realistic in-game lighting and effects, and it also speeds up other computationally intensive work like AI deep learning”.

ASUS adds that the Dash F15 also features “a 144 Hz display that still offers competitive gaming speed, more than doubling the refresh rate of conventional laptop displays”.

Lenovo Legion 7

Lenovo unveiled its “new battle-ready lineup that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to auto-enable seamless gaming” – the Legion 7, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5 Pro and Legion 5 – at this year’s event

According to Lenovo, the new Legion laptops “are expertly-crafted with intelligent Legion Coldfront 3.0 thermals for an increased airflow of up to 18% gen-to-gen to better manage the heat and noise generated by all that raw processing power”.

The “world’s first 16-inch QHD 165Hz gaming laptops” is equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5900H mobile processors. It also ensures a more immersive experience thanks to the series’ smooth response and panel colour accuracy.

In addition, the 15.6-inch Lenovo Legion Slim 7 “aims to outdo itself again by targeting an even thinner profile in 2021 to become the thinnest and lightest gaming laptop in Lenovo Legion history”.
