CrowdStrike to Lay Off 500 Employees

CrowdStrike, a leader in cybersecurity, announced on Wednesday a 5% reduction in its global workforce, translating to approximately 500 positions.

In an 8-K filing, CrowdStrike noted that the layoffs are part of a “strategic plan (the ‘Plan’) to enhance its operations for improved efficiencies as the Company aims to scale its business with focus and discipline to achieve a target of $10 billion in Annual Recurring Revenue.”

The company also revealed plans to “recruit in key strategic areas throughout its fiscal year ending January 31, 2026.”

“These changes allow us to act more swiftly, operate more efficiently, and sustain our leadership in cybersecurity,” stated CEO George Kurtz in a letter to employees, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

CrowdStrike gained prominence in 2016 after investigating the hack of the Democratic National Committee, which was linked to the Russian government. Last summer, the company faced scrutiny due to a faulty software update that impacted 8.5 million Windows devices worldwide, causing significant outages that disrupted airports, airlines, banks, hotels, and numerous other businesses.
