Bosch Ventures Targets North America with $270 Million Fund
Bosch’s venture capital division has introduced a new fund worth $270 million specifically targeting deep-tech startups, marking a significant shift towards North American investments this time around.
Since its establishment in 2007, Bosch Ventures has now launched its sixth fund. While it operates on a global scale, its present emphasis is notably on North American enterprises.
This strategy may seem paradoxical in light of current U.S. policies that have sparked trade tensions with China, along with a volatile stock market and concerns regarding a recession. However, Ingo Ramesohl, managing director of Bosch Ventures, told TechCrunch that the deal flow in North America remains strong.
“There’s a palpable sense of positive energy,” Ramesohl expressed. “Innovation and disruption are not waning. In my view, this is an excellent time for fresh investments.”
The firm boasts locations in Silicon Valley, Boston, Germany, Tel Aviv, and China, typically investing between $5 million and $10 million in each venture. Ramesohl estimates that this latest fund will result in approximately 20 to 25 investments.
“This essentially continues the achievements of our prior funds,” Ramesohl stated when discussing the sectors of technology that interest them.
Bosch Ventures remains committed to sectors like automotive, climate technology, cybersecurity, semiconductor manufacturing, energy efficiency, and enterprise software. Additionally, generative AI, especially in its applications within physical industries like manufacturing, is a key focus.

“Our focus is not solely on generative AI,” Ramesohl clarified.
Nonetheless, AI has been integral to the manufacturing company since at least 2017, coinciding with the launch of the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence. The company has asserted — and Ramesohl confirmed — that by the end of 2023, all Bosch products will either be developed or manufactured using AI technology.
“Generative AI is initiating substantial changes and facilitating numerous new businesses and innovations,” he noted, highlighting his belief that the most promising AI applications lie within operational settings.
