Amazon Expects Corporate Layoffs Amid AI Integration

Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, believes that generative AI will significantly reshape the company’s approach to its workforce in the coming years.

Jassy noted that as the company increases its reliance on AI agents and modifies its operational techniques, he foresees a reduction in the number of corporate roles required in the future, as reported in a memo by CNBC.

“For certain jobs currently performed, we will need fewer people, and more individuals will be needed in different roles,” Jassy stated in the memo.

He also emphasized that predicting the degree of future workforce reduction remains difficult.

A recent World Economic Forum survey indicated that workforce reductions attributed to AI may already be in progress. The survey found that 40% of employers plan to reduce staffing in roles that can be automated by AI.
