LinkedIn CEO: AI Writing Assistant Doesn’t Meet Popularity Hopes

While LinkedIn users seem to embrace AI, there’s one aspect that hasn’t met expectations: AI-generated recommendations for enhancing posts, as noted by CEO Ryan Roslansky.

“Honestly, it’s not as popular as I thought it would be,” Roslansky stated in a Bloomberg interview. He attributed this to the fact that the “barrier is much higher” for posting on LinkedIn since “this serves as your online resume.” Users also face considerable backlash if they share content that appears overly AI-generated.

“Getting criticized on X or TikTok is one thing,” he elaborated. “But being called out on LinkedIn can significantly impact your ability to create economic opportunities.”

At the same time, Roslansky noted a sixfold increase in job postings looking for AI-related skills over the past year, along with a twentyfold rise in users adding AI skills to their profiles.

He also shared that he uses AI in his communications with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella: “Before I send him an email, I always click the Copilot button to make sure I sound as smart as Satya.”
