ElevenLabs Unveils Standalone Voice Generation App

ElevenLabs, a voice AI company, has unveiled a dedicated mobile app for both iOS and Android, enabling users to generate voice clips from text.

Previously, users had to rely on the web application to produce samples using ElevenLabs’ AI-driven voice libraries. Now, the mobile app streamlines the process, making it easier for users to create clips.

The app is user-friendly: simply type or paste your text, select a suitable voice, and generate the audio clip. The free plan allows for about 10 minutes of audio generation. Users can choose various models to balance cost and quality, with a unified credit system for both the web and mobile platforms.

Furthermore, ElevenLabs has highlighted that the app features access to its cutting-edge version 3 alpha text-to-speech models, enabling users to adjust expressions using tags.

Jack McDermott, the company’s mobile growth lead, provided insights to TechCrunch on how numerous creators already utilize mobile web browsers to generate voice samples for videos in apps like CapCut, Instagram, or Inshot. In response to this need, ElevenLabs aimed to develop a native solution.

“In the past year, we’ve observed a surge of creativity from our community—ranging from content creators and marketers to educators, voice artists, and professionals leveraging ElevenLabs for their projects. Many have been accessing ElevenLabs via mobile web browsers and requested a faster, more intuitive, and comprehensive native experience,” he remarked in an email.

The company now finds itself competing with other voice cloning and generation services, such as Speechify and Captions.

This release marks ElevenLabs’ second consumer app, following last year’s launch of the Reader app, which allows users to listen to articles, blogs, PDFs, and eBooks on the go. Earlier this year, it also enhanced the Reader app for publishers to distribute audiobooks.

Looking to the future, the company plans to roll out additional features, including speech-to-text capabilities, a conversational AI agent tool, and integrating MCP-powered experiences like 11.ai into the app.
