Instagram Now Lets You Share Spotify Songs with Sound in Stories

On Monday, Instagram announced that it will soon enable users to listen to song previews shared from Spotify within Stories.

Previously, Instagram allowed users to share Spotify tracks in their Stories, but without audio—merely linking to the song on the streaming service. Now, when users add a song to their Story, viewers will be able to hear a preview directly on Instagram.

This minor yet impactful update streamlines the process of sharing and discovering music on the platform without requiring users to leave the app.

This update comes after a recent introduction of a similar feature for Instagram Notes, which lets users stream Spotify songs directly in their Notes, enabling followers to view and explore their music tastes in real-time.

These new features may position Instagram as a go-to platform for music discovery, potentially encouraging users to spend more time on the app. Enhancing music capabilities could also boost Instagram’s competitiveness against TikTok, which currently dominates this area and significantly influences global music charts.

Furthermore, Instagram introduced new fonts for Stories and Reels this year. The first is a limited-time font inspired by the handwriting of singer-songwriter Rosalía.

By typing specific characters like “:-)”, “***”, and “<3,” users can unlock exclusive hand-drawn symbols by Rosalía, according to Instagram.
