Spotify Refreshes Discover Weekly Playlist for Its 10th Anniversary
Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist, famous for offering fresh music recommendations every Monday, is gearing up for an exciting enhancement.
Ten years since the inception of Discover Weekly (time flies, right?), Spotify Premium users will now see new features at the playlist’s top that allow them to customize their recommendations by specific genres. For example, if you enjoy 80s rock and are curious about K-pop, you can apply various genre filters to shape the algorithm’s suggestions.

This new feature is designed to empower users by giving them more control over the variety of new music they wish to discover in their Discover Weekly playlists.
Spotify reveals that more than 100 billion tracks have been streamed through Discover Weekly, with an impressive 77% of those listens attributed to emerging artists.
To make the most of the upgraded Discover Weekly experience, Spotify Premium members should navigate to the “Made for You” section to find their Discover Weekly playlist. If they’re on the latest version of Spotify, they’ll notice the newly incorporated genre controls.
In a landscape often dominated by algorithm-driven suggestions, Spotify has been introducing features that aim to give listeners enhanced control over their music choices. Recently, an improved queue feature has been rolled out, allowing users to preview upcoming Spotify suggestions and decide in advance which songs to keep. Additionally, listeners can now “snooze” tracks they prefer to skip, temporarily setting them aside for thirty days without permanently removing them from their playlists.
