Apple is reportedly looking into integrating Anthropic and OpenAI to improve Siri.

A report from Bloomberg on Monday indicates that Apple is considering using AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic to enhance the next iteration of Siri, instead of depending solely on its own technology.

The iPhone maker is also advancing an internal project named “LLM Siri,” which employs Apple’s own AI models. However, Bloomberg reports that Apple has engaged with OpenAI and Anthropic to create customized versions of their AI models that can be tested on Apple’s cloud infrastructure.

Initially slated for 2025, the launch of Apple’s AI-enhanced Siri has been pushed to 2026 or later due to several technical challenges the company has faced. This delay highlights a continuing trend; Apple has been falling behind rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the AI sector in recent years.

Currently, while Siri utilizes ChatGPT for more complex questions, Apple seems to be exploring a deeper collaboration with external AI providers.
