Netflix Collaborates with NASA to Improve Live TV Offerings

On Monday, Netflix and NASA announced an exciting new partnership that will bring live space programming to the streaming service this summer.

Subscribers can anticipate livestreams of rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and live feeds showcasing Earth from the International Space Station. Additionally, they will gain access to exclusive content from NASA+, the agency’s ad-free streaming platform launched in 2023.

Historically, Netflix’s live offerings have mainly been produced in-house or featured as unique events. This collaboration with NASA marks Netflix’s commitment to expanding its live programming options.

Netflix has been steadily introducing live TV content, focusing on stand-up comedy, award ceremonies, and special events. The platform also highlights sports, featuring WWE and celebrity golf tournaments. Its most recent collaboration with TF1 provided French subscribers with live sports events, soap operas, and competitive shows like “The Voice.”

This isn’t NASA’s first partnership with a streaming service aimed at engaging space enthusiasts on popular platforms. In May, the agency collaborated with Prime Video to launch a live FAST channel and maintains a strong presence on YouTube, offering NASA+ content for free on its website.
