TikTok Reduces Workforce in Its U.S. TikTok Shop Division
Amid a flood of advertisements promoting collagen supplements and electric scrub brushes, TikTok Shop US seems to be encountering difficulties. A Bloomberg report indicates that TikTok has commenced a third round of layoffs for this division since April, although the number of positions impacted has not been disclosed.
Established less than two years ago, TikTok Shop US is the company’s e-commerce platform, offering a variety of products and allowing creators to earn commissions from videos that generate sales. Despite being TikTok’s fastest-growing initiative, the platform’s future in the U.S. remains uncertain.
Former President Trump has delayed the deadline for ByteDance to sell the app to an American entity, following TikTok’s formal ban. However, this weekend, Trump revealed he has a potential buyer for the app, with speculation that it may involve prominent figures from the venture capital industry.
