OpenAI Poised to Unveil AI-Powered Browser Soon, Reports Indicate

After the debut of Perplexity’s Comet, OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to launch its own AI-based web browser to compete with Google Chrome, as mentioned in a Wednesday report by Reuters.

The developer of ChatGPT aims to reveal its browser in the upcoming weeks. Mirroring the approaches of Perplexity’s Comet and The Browser Company’s Dia, OpenAI’s browser is anticipated to utilize AI to transform the user browsing experience. It is expected that the browser will maintain specific user interactions within ChatGPT, instead of sending users to external websites. According to Reuters, a notable aspect of OpenAI’s browser may be the inclusion of Operator, the company’s AI tool designed for web navigation.

As detailed by The Information, OpenAI had initially contemplated launching a browser to rival Google Chrome in 2024. Similar to Perplexity, OpenAI seems to be aiming for direct access to user data and the ability to create unique user experiences that bypass Google’s intermediaries.
