Google’s AI Features Draw 2 Billion Monthly Users, Including 100 Million from the US and India
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google, shared insights on the increasing adoption of consumer-oriented AI applications and features, including AI Overviews in Google Search, Gemini, and AI Mode. During the Q2 2025 investor call, he highlighted that AI Overviews, which provides AI-generated summaries for search results and is accessible in 200 countries, has grown to 2 billion monthly users, up from 1.5 billion in May 2025.
Additionally, the Gemini app has reached 450 million monthly active users.
Pichai remarked, “We continue to see strong growth and engagement, with daily requests increasing by over 50% since Q1.”
Furthermore, AI Mode, which enriches Google Search with more detailed responses, now has 100 million monthly active users. This feature is currently available in the U.S. and has recently launched in India, with plans for further expansion. Pichai mentioned upcoming enhancements, such as the advanced research tool, Deep Search, and more tailored responses.
On the development front, Google reported that over 9 million developers have engaged with Gemini, and since May, more than 70 million videos have been produced using the Veo 3 AI model. Google Vids, a feature that enables text-to-video AI generation in Google Workspace, is nearing 1 million monthly active users.
In Google Meet, it was noted that over 50 million users have benefited from AI-powered meeting notes, according to company reports.
These figures aim to illustrate consumer interest in AI features; however, accurately determining how many users have genuinely adopted AI in Search may prove difficult, especially in light of aggressive promoting of the feature.
On a larger scale, Google emphasized its progress regarding monthly tokens processed, previously stated at its developer conference in May to be 480 trillion, and now has soared to 980 trillion.
Pichai informed investors, “We are witnessing significant demand for our comprehensive AI product range. This growth stems from our long-term investments in a differentiated, full-stack approach to AI.”
Nonetheless, investors were not pleased with Google’s plans to increase capital expenditure to remain competitive in the AI sector, resulting in a decline in stock prices shortly following the earnings report.
