Google Unveils AI-Powered Virtual Fitting Tool for Clothing
On Thursday, Google introduced an innovative AI feature that allows users to try on clothing virtually. The tech giant is also rolling out enhanced price alerts and teasing a forthcoming tool enabling users to discover stylish outfits and home design ideas using generative imagery.
The virtual try-on feature is launching officially after two months of internal testing at Google. Users can upload their photos to see how various clothing items will appear on them.
Currently, this capability is available in the United States, allowing users to experiment with clothing from Google’s Shopping Graph across multiple platforms, including Search, Google Shopping, and product results in Google Images.
To use the feature, users can click on a product listing or apparel result and select the “try it on” icon. They will then be asked to upload a full-length photo, enabling them to see how the clothing fits. Users can also save their outfits and share them with friends.

While Google has worked with virtual try-on technology showcasing items on various models, this update allows users to see clothing on a digital representation of themselves.
This launch reflects Google’s ongoing investment in the virtual try-on space. Last month, the company unveiled an experimental app named Doppl that utilizes AI to help users visualize different outfits on themselves.
A Google representative mentioned that both the new try-on feature and Doppl utilize similar generative AI technology, although Doppl offers a more immersive shopping experience and allows users to refine their personal style. Doppl can even generate AI-produced videos, enhancing how users visualize outfits in everyday life.

With the newly launched price alerts, users can set their desired price points for items. Starting now, shoppers in the U.S. can establish alerts for products while specifying their preferred size, color, and price range.

“The Shopping Graph aggregates products and prices from across the web, so we’ll notify you when a deal meets your preferences,” stated Danielle Buckley, Google’s director of Consumer Shopping, in a blog post. “No need for constant checking to see if that coveted bag has reached the right price or forgetting about a product you were interested in.”
Regarding the anticipated feature that will provide outfit and room design suggestions, Google mentioned that users can expect this functionality this fall. This will assist users in finding style inspiration for events such as garden parties or design ideas for bedroom aesthetics.
The tech giant emphasizes that its vision match technology will generate numerous visual options based on user inquiries, leveraging the 50 billion products available in the Shopping Graph to deliver relevant product listings.
