Apple Reaches Historic Milestone: 3 Billion iPhones Sold

Apple has achieved a remarkable milestone of 3 billion iPhones sold since its debut in 2007, as stated by CEO Tim Cook during the company’s third-quarter earnings call on Thursday.

The company reached its first billion iPhones sold nine years later, in 2016. This indicates that Apple has sold an impressive 2 billion units in the subsequent nine years, highlighting the growing popularity of the device.

While Apple revels in this notable accomplishment, it has encountered challenges in the stock market this year, lagging behind Nvidia and Microsoft as the top-valued companies. However, a significant bright spot for Apple is that iPhone sales surpassed expectations this quarter.

According to the earnings call, iPhone sales, which are Apple’s flagship product, jumped by 13% year-over-year, generating $44.6 billion in revenue. This represents nearly half of the total quarterly revenue of $94 billion.

Nevertheless, this uptick in iPhone sales may not be sustainable. Bloomberg managing editor Mark Gurman indicated that the sales surge last quarter could be linked to fears regarding President Trump’s tariff proposals, which could potentially raise prices in the U.S.
