Character.AI Launches New Social Feed Feature in App

With the rise of AI-generated content on social media platforms, applications focused on AI are eager to capitalize on this trend. The newest player is Character.AI, which announced on Monday the upcoming launch of a social feed within its mobile applications, allowing users to create and interact with AI characters.

The social feed, which was first introduced on the company’s web platform in June, enables users to share images, videos, and their chatbots with peers. Users can also share snippets from their conversations with characters, post AI-generated artwork inspired by those chats, or even facilitate debates among characters during a live streaming event.

This feature allows users to leverage the company’s generative video model, AvatarFX, to generate video clips based on text prompts and images, which can subsequently be posted on the feed.

“With our new Feed, the distinction between creator and consumer is becoming less defined. You can enjoy content from our skilled creators for a more laid-back experience, but you can also drive the story forward or create an entirely new epic adventure,” stated Karandeep Singh, CEO of Character.AI.

Character.AI is not the first to venture into the social media space: In July, the video-generation app Pika launched an invitation-only platform that allows users to produce and share videos using AI tools.
