Mason Greenwood Set for International Comeback with New Passport as He Relocates from England

MASON GREENWOOD is set to make his return to international football – but this time, not with England.

The controversial former Manchester United winger made his debut for the Three Lions in a Nations League match against Iceland back in 2020.

Despite this, his international future appeared to be over when he faced severe allegations of attempted rape, coercive control, and ABH against his girlfriend Harriet Robson in October 2022.

These allegations were eventually dropped in February 2023, clearing the way for his football return that September with a loan to Getafe.

Greenwood then made a permanent move to Ligue 1’s Marseille last July and has excelled at the Stade Velodrome.

He now stands on the verge of his international comeback – with JAMAICA.

He has recently obtained a passport from the Caribbean nation.

To play for the ‘Reggae Boyz’, all that is left is for Greenwood to switch his allegiance from the FA to the Jamaican Football Association.

If this transition is endorsed, he could feature in Jamaica’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago.

New Jamaica coach Steve McLaren has indicated that he has been in talks with Greenwood and his family regarding the allegiance switch.

The former England manager noted: “We are in continual discussions with him (Greenwood) and his family.

“I feel very optimistic that he is keen to play for Jamaica.

“Ultimately, it’s up to him to decide when to take the next step.

“The ball is in his court.”

Greenwood was a pivotal player for Marseille last season, netting 22 goals and providing six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for Roberto de Zerbi’s squad.
