US Adds OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic to Approved AI Vendor List for Federal Agencies

As reported by Bloomberg, the U.S. government has approved Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic as authorized vendors allowed to provide artificial intelligence services to civilian federal agencies.

These companies will offer their AI solutions through a newly established federal contracting platform known as the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS). This setup enables government agencies to interact with AI tool providers through pre-negotiated contracts, rather than engaging in individual negotiations with each vendor.

Bloomberg indicates that the General Services Administration (GSA), responsible for managing the MAS, assessed these tech firms based on their security protocols and operational effectiveness.

This initiative continues the executive orders from President Donald Trump that focus on promoting AI technology, which includes revisions to environmental regulations to improve energy access for data centers and a mandate for federal agencies to adopt AI that is “free from ideological bias.”
