US Designates OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic as Approved AI Vendors for Federal Agencies
Bloomberg reports that the U.S. government has given the green light to Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic as approved vendors authorized to provide artificial intelligence services to civilian federal agencies.
These companies will deliver their AI solutions through a newly established federal contracting platform called the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS). This system enables government agencies to engage with AI tool providers via pre-negotiated contracts rather than entering into separate negotiations individually with each vendor.
According to Bloomberg, the General Services Administration (GSA), which manages the MAS, assessed these technology companies based on their security protocols and operational efficiencies.
This initiative builds upon the executive orders from President Donald Trump aimed at advancing AI technology, which includes revisions to environmental regulations to ease energy access for data centers and a directive for federal agencies to adopt AI that is “free from ideological bias.”
