Apple’s New Siri Offers Voice-Only Control for Apps
In 2024, Apple demonstrated an exciting preview of a more advanced Siri, aimed at integrating with various apps to gather a wide range of information. However, the launch of this upgraded Siri has not yet occurred, as the company seems to be encountering obstacles in making it a reality.
As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is in the process of testing a version of Siri that will perform tasks on your behalf across multiple apps using voice commands. The goal is to roll out an enhanced edition of App Intents, the framework that enables developers to provide user access to app features through various systems, like search and Shortcuts.
Additionally, Bloomberg indicated that if this new version of Siri and App Intents proves successful, users could ask Siri to find a photo, edit it, and share it with others; post comments on social media; or log in to different services.
The company is reportedly trialing this capability with apps such as Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Furthermore, it was noted that Apple plans to introduce a redesigned version of Siri in the spring of 2026.
