Google CEO Unveils New Calendar Feature Inspired by Stripe Co-Founder’s Request

In a discussion about customer service, Google CEO Sundar Pichai took to X on Wednesday to announce a new feature in Google Calendar that enables users to duplicate events. This enhancement was specifically requested by Stripe co-founder John Collison in a prior post on the platform last month.

On July 5, Collison asked whether Google Calendar could implement a Ctrl-click option to simplify event duplication, a feature already available in many other calendar applications. He tagged Pichai in this original post.

Generally, users tag companies and their leaders to provide feedback or express concerns, but it’s a significant moment when a CEO responds and brings the suggested change to life.

This is the case for Collison, at least.

Pichai remarked, “This feature is now accessible for all users on Google Calendar on the web — thank you for the suggestion!”

Not surprisingly, users on X began to humorously engage Collison, asking him to address their own specific issues.

For example, Box CEO Aaron Levie jokingly referred to the notoriously congested highway in Silicon Valley where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles currently encounter challenges, saying, “John, could you ask Waymo to resolve the El Camino issue through the peninsula? Thanks!”
