Pixel 10, AI Advancements, and What to Expect at the Made by Google 2025 Event

Excitement is mounting for the Made by Google 2025 event, with particular interest in the Pixel 10 series, set to launch well ahead of the iPhone 17. Apple’s hardware event is anticipated for September.

The tech giant has clearly signaled its desire to expand the Pixel lineup, likely integrating more generative AI capabilities via Gemini. The Made by Google event will occur at 10 a.m. PT on August 20.

Prepare for a Gemini upgrade

Although Google unveiled several AI-related enhancements at its developer conference in May, it’s expected to showcase additional Gemini features during the Pixel 10 event. In a recent promotional YouTube video, Google appeared to humorously highlight Apple’s unmet commitments regarding advancements in Apple Intelligence with the iPhone.

Whispers of a feature dubbed “Camera Coach” are circulating, which would allow Gemini to provide real-time advice for capturing better photographs. This AI is reportedly capable of assessing the scene and suggesting optimal angles and lighting for your photos.

There’s also speculation about a conversational photo editing tool, enabling users to instruct Gemini on desired modifications in a picture, such as adjusting brightness, removing objects, or altering the background.

Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL

The standard Pixel 10 is set for substantial updates, notably the addition of a dedicated telephoto lens, a feature until now reserved for the Pro models. After leaked renders revealed a third rear lens, Google confirmed significant camera upgrades for the Pixel 10.

Moreover, the entire lineup is expected to feature a new Tensor G5 processor, marking the dawn of the Gemini era and improving performance and power efficiency compared to the Tensor G4 chip.

Aside from these enhancements, not many visible changes are on the horizon. The overall design of the devices is likely to resemble that of the Pixel 9 series. The displays are expected to remain the same too, with the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro featuring a 6.3-inch display, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL will boast a larger 6.8-inch display.

Potential improvements for the Pro models may include enhancements in camera and video quality, along with an increase in battery size to enable faster charging and address the longevity gap with flagship phones from Apple and Samsung.

Moreover, there are discussions that the Pixel 10 series could support Qi2 wireless charging, making it one of the few Android devices compatible with magnetic accessories such as chargers, wallets, and mounts. Google is also reportedly set to unveil a “Pixelsnap” phone case featuring a magnetic ring.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Regarding Google’s upcoming foldable phone, rumors suggest it will have a larger cover display, roughly 6.4 inches, along with an 8-inch main screen. Additionally, Google is believed to be strengthening the hinge and thinning the bezels for a more streamlined look.

Another intriguing rumor is the introduction of an IP68 rating, which would mark a first for this device. This rating means it can resist both dust and water, unlike the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which has no dust protection.

Similar to the other Pixel 10 devices, the Pro Fold will likely utilize the new G5 chip and include the latest Gemini AI features. Upgrades to the camera system are also anticipated, potentially featuring a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom. Battery life improvements are expected as well.

The Pixel 10 may be available in Moonstone and Jade colors.

The Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds

Wearable devices are also expected to receive attention at Google’s event, with the Pixel Watch 4 rumored to feature a thicker build, extended battery life, and reduced bezels.

There’s a strong chance that the smartwatch will roll out new health and fitness tracking features, possibly including a refined blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring function.

Leaks concerning the Pixel Buds 2a suggest that the earbuds will be available in new color schemes (Fog Light, Hazel, Iris, and Strawberry), along with features such as active noise cancellation. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also rumored to arrive in a new Sterling color.
