Madagascar Welcomes 45th SADC Ordinary Summit with Heads of State and Government Present
Antananarivo – President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa is participating in the 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government at the Ivato Conference Center in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
On Sunday, 17 August 2025, President Ramaphosa engaged with fellow leaders during the SADC summit.
This summit is of considerable strategic importance for South Africa as it prepares to assume the Chair of SADC.
Additionally, South Africa is slated to host the 46th Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in August 2026.
The theme of this year’s summit is: “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC.”
Leaders will focus on enhancing regional integration through key pillars: bolstering industrial capacity and regional value chains, modernizing agriculture, and promoting an inclusive energy transition. These efforts aim to foster a resilient, sustainable, and unified SADC region.
