Madagascar Welcomes Leaders to the 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC

Antananarivo – President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa is present at the 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government taking place at the Ivato Conference Center in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, President Ramaphosa engaged with other leaders during the SADC summit.

This summit carries considerable strategic importance for South Africa as it prepares to assume the SADC Chair.

Additionally, South Africa will host the 46th Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in August 2026.

The theme for this year’s summit is: “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC.”

Leaders will focus on promoting regional integration through vital pillars: boosting industrial capacity and regional value chains, modernizing agriculture, and supporting an inclusive energy transition. These initiatives aim to establish a more resilient, sustainable, and united SADC region.
