GPT-5 Aims to Enhance User Experience
On Friday, OpenAI announced new initiatives designed to improve its latest model, with an emphasis on creating a “warmer and friendlier” user experience.
The eagerly awaited GPT-5 has been introduced, although CEO Sam Altman admitted that the rollout faced “some unexpected challenges,” as certain users continued to favor the previous model, GPT-4o.
In response to this feedback, OpenAI is rolling out updates described as “subtle,” aiming to make GPT-5 “more approachable” in future revisions.
“You can look forward to hearing genuine phrases like ‘Good question’ or ‘Great start,’ instead of insincere flattery,” the company shared in a social media post. “Internal evaluations show no increase in sycophantic behavior compared to earlier GPT-5 engagements.”
During a dinner with reporters earlier this week, OpenAI’s leadership sought to share the company’s vision beyond GPT-5. However, as noted by Max Zeff, the challenging launch dominated the discussion. Reflecting on the model’s friendliness, VP Nick Turley noted that GPT-5 had been “very direct,” but the recent update seeks to enhance its warmth, consistent with earlier discussions.
