Edit Your Photos in Google Photos with Voice Commands Now!

At the Made by Google event on Wednesday, the company introduced thrilling new functionalities for Google Photos. Starting with Pixel 10 devices in the U.S., users can directly request edits from the app, detailing their desired changes through text or voice.

Moreover, Google is adding C2PA Content Credentials support in Google Photos. The Pixel 10 will be the first Google device to adopt this standard, designed to improve transparency about image creation and AI involvement. C2PA capabilities will be embedded in the Camera app on Pixel devices, applicable to all photos taken with it, regardless of AI use.

The cutting-edge “edit by asking” feature in Google Photos leverages Gemini technology, enabling users to request photo modifications through natural language. For instance, users can say, “remove the cars from the background,” or “restore this old image,” and the app will adjust accordingly. This capability is designed to facilitate image enhancements for those who are not tech-savvy or familiar with editing tools.

This functionality can perform tasks such as lighting adjustments and the removal of unwanted elements from images, as well as more creative edits like altering backgrounds or adding features to a photo. Google encourages users to enhance their photos by incorporating playful items like sunglasses or party hats.

For those unsure about what to request, they can simply say, “make it better,” and Google Photos will intelligently enhance the image. The app also offers suggestions for improvements and accommodates follow-up requests for additional refinements.

Google has stated that C2PA support will first be available on Pixel 10 devices and will be gradually introduced to Google Photos on iOS and Android in the upcoming weeks. The “edit by asking” feature is expected to launch on Wednesday.
