Chipolo Unveils Rechargeable Trackers Competing with AirTag, Featuring Six-Month Battery Life

Chipolo, a contender in the item tracking arena alongside AirTags, introduced exciting new additions to its rechargeable product lineup on Wednesday. These include an upgraded version of its colorful LOOP tracker and the stylish Chipolo CARD.

The Chipolo CARD is crafted to fit effortlessly in your wallet, showcasing a textured matte finish in a refined charcoal shade that allows it to harmonize with other credit cards. On the other hand, the LOOP tracker is designed for attachment to important items such as keys, bags, and purses, available in six appealing colors: navy, mint, honey, coral, charcoal, and chalk.

Unlike AirTags that operate with a replaceable CR2032 lithium 3V coin battery, the latest Chipolo devices come with rechargeable batteries, boasting an estimated lifespan of six months between charges. The LOOP can be charged with any USB-C cable, while the CARD is compatible with Qi wireless charging.

While some consumers may prefer devices with replaceable batteries, many others favor rechargeable options to reduce e-waste. This variety in the market is crucial for fostering competition in the tracking device sector, preventing Apple from dominating the landscape with its favored designs. Additionally, environmentally-conscious buyers should note that Chipolo claims its products are constructed from at least 50% post-consumer recycled plastics.

Both devices feature an impressive Bluetooth range of 400 feet (120 meters), making it easier to locate misplaced items in close proximity. The Chipolo app allows users to track lost belongings and integrates with Apple’s Find My and Android’s Find Hub. The CARD can emit a loud sound of up to 110 dB, while the LOOP achieves up to 125 dB. You can also find your lost phone by double-pressing the tracker.

The Chipolo app includes additional functionalities, such as out-of-range alerts for Android users, customizable ringtones and volume settings, as well as a new ring-and-blink feature to activate a light on the device when lost in dim environments.

Engineered to resist water and dust, both devices boast an IP67 rating, allowing them to withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of freshwater for a maximum of 30 minutes while resisting small particles.

These new trackers are now available for preorder on Chipolo’s website and Amazon, with plans for retail availability in stores like T-Mobile by the end of September. Each device is priced at $39 (€45/£39).
