xAI’s CFO Joins the Growing List of Executives Leaving Elon Musk’s AI Firm
Mike Liberatore, the CFO of xAI, has resigned from his role, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. His departure contributes to a growing trend of significant executive exits from the organization.
Liberatore, who had previously been employed by Airbnb, joined xAI in April and left by the end of July, as reported by the WSJ.
During his time at xAI, he was instrumental in facilitating the company’s $5 billion debt raise and an additional $5 billion in equity funding, nearly half of which came from SpaceX. He also oversaw the expansion of xAI’s data centers in Memphis.
His departure follows that of xAI’s general counsel, Robert Keele, who left in August after more than a year. Additionally, senior attorney Raghu Rao departed around the same time as Keele and Liberatore, as noted by the WSJ. Igor Babuschkin, a co-founder of xAI, announced his exit last month to pursue his own venture capital firm focused on AI safety research.
Linda Yaccarino, the former CEO of X, also resigned in July amid issues with Grok, xAI’s chatbot on X. xAI acquired X in late March.
