Google Unveils Affordable AI Plus Plan in Over 40 Countries

Google has rolled out its new, budget-friendly AI Plus plan, which is now available in over 40 countries, including Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.

The AI Plus plan was first introduced in Indonesia earlier this month, priced at Rp 75,000 ($4.50) monthly. In most regions, the plan costs about $5, with Google offering a 50% discount for six months in select areas like Nepal and Mexico.

This Plus tier grants access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and various tools for generating images and videos, such as Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. Users can also take advantage of advanced features in the company’s AI research assistant, NotebookLM, integrate AI in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, and benefit from 200GB of cloud storage.

This announcement comes shortly after OpenAI expanded its sub-$5 ChatGPT Go plan to Indonesia. Notably, India, the initial launch location for ChatGPT Go, is absent from Google’s offerings.

Both companies have a base plan priced at $20 per month, but with these new, lower-cost subscription options, they aim to draw in more paying users in regions where a $20 subscription may be deemed too high.
