ElevenLabs Launches Versatile Music-Generation Model That Effortlessly Transitions Between Genres Mid-Track

ElevenLabs, a Voice AI company, has announced an enhanced iteration of its music generation model called Music v2. This updated model is capable of seamlessly transitioning between various genres within a single track. As stated by the company, the model is designed to handle both intricate vocal performances and complex musical compositions. This release follows closely behind the first version of their music generation model, which was introduced nearly 10 months ago.

According to ElevenLabs, the model can effortlessly transition from opera to heavy metal and back, produce rapid rap segments while ensuring coherence, and integrate non-musical sound effects into a track. With this upgraded model, artists can choose a specific part of a song to recreate using prompts, without altering other sections of the music.

Moreover, instead of limiting output to short clips, artists can now construct songs in segments—such as intro, verse, and chorus—and then blend them together. ElevenLabs noted that the model exhibits improved reliability across different languages, lyrics, vocals, and arrangements.

In recent months, AI labs have been fiercely competing to introduce models capable of generating professional-quality music. Other companies, including Google, Stability AI, and Suno, have also launched new music-generating models that can produce longer and more intricate tracks. During the Google I/O developer conference, Google unveiled features that facilitate easy creation of music covers, section-based editing of songs, and music video generation using its Flow Music tool.

ElevenLabs emphasized that the new model is built on licensed data and comes with approval for commercial use, enabling users to incorporate the tracks without any limitations. Securing partnerships with record labels is essential, particularly since other AI music startups, like Suno and Udio, have faced legal challenges regarding copyright issues.

The updated model is available through ElevenLabs’ ElevenCreative tool, aimed at marketing and branding teams, along with the newly launched ElevenMusic platform for creating AI-generated songs. Access via ElevenAPI is anticipated shortly.
