Spotify Launches New Feature to ‘Clip’ Highlights from Your Favorite Podcasts

Sharing your favorite podcast highlights is now easier with Spotify’s new Podcast clips feature, launching this Wednesday.

In the app, a new scissors icon in the “Now Playing” section lets you clip specific segments of interest from the podcast you’re enjoying and share them with your social media followers or anyone else.

When you create a clip, you can trim the audio and listen to a preview before sharing it publicly. Then, simply tap the sharing button, which offers options to share the podcast, including a link to the full episode, chapter, timestamp, or now, the clip.

This update is especially timely in the tech industry, as many leading tech and AI executives are opting for podcasts over traditional media interviews to expand their reach and, at times, sidestep tougher questions. As a result, more news is being delivered via podcasts, but there often isn’t enough time to catch it all. This feature will help highlight key moments from those long interviews for a broader audience.

Spotify has also noted achievements with its Chapters feature, which allows users to save longer podcast segments. Since its introduction earlier this year, Chapters have been saved and added to playlists over 2 million times each month.

Sharing clips can enhance marketing strategies by showcasing engaging segments, motivating listeners to check out the full episode for more content.

Saved clips will be kept in your Spotify Library, making it easy to revisit them anytime or add them to your podcast playlists.

This feature is being rolled out globally for Spotify’s free and Premium users on mobile, with more shows being integrated over time.
