Anthropic Advances with IPO Initiatives

Anthropic, the organization behind Claude, has filed a confidential request for an initial public offering, as revealed in a blog post on Monday.

The company, currently valued at nearly $1 trillion, has submitted a draft registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regarding its upcoming IPO. Anthropic has not disclosed the share count or pricing at this stage. The timing of the IPO will depend on market conditions and other factors.

This submission comes shortly after Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round, pushing its valuation up to $965 billion. The funding round was co-led by several notable firms, including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, Capital Group, Coatue, and D1 Capital Partners, attracting numerous institutional and strategic investors in anticipation of the IPO.

The confidential filing arrives during a vibrant IPO season, highlighted by SpaceX’s initiative, which is targeting a valuation of $2 trillion and aims to raise over $75 billion.

Confidential IPO filings permit companies to prep for public offerings while keeping sensitive financial data, risks, and internal business specifics under wraps, enabling Anthropic to evaluate its IPO away from public scrutiny. If they move forward, Anthropic will file an S-1 registration document detailing comprehensive financials, legal aspects, risks, and the distribution of shareholder voting power.

Additionally, this filing coincides with rival OpenAI continuing to draw investment, including a recent $122 billion round in March, leading to an $852 billion post-money valuation as it gears up for its own IPO. This sets the stage for a competitive IPO season, where leading AI companies will vie for market interest in artificial intelligence.

Once seen as an underdog, Anthropic has risen to prominence as a leader in AI, boasting prestigious enterprise clients. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI staff, Anthropic was previously viewed as a minor competitor to OpenAI and its AI chatbot, ChatGPT.

The company’s expanded capabilities and focus on enterprise solutions have attracted investors and clients, resulting in impressive revenue growth. Recently, it was reported that Anthropic’s revenue run-rate surpassed $47 billion, a significant increase from $9 billion at the end of 2025.

This growth trajectory may quicken as Anthropic works to broaden access to its Mythos model. Although Mythos was previewed in April, access has been limited, with a caution that developers need to address high-severity bugs before a full public launch.

According to Bloomberg, the generative AI lab is poised to grant the European Union’s cybersecurity agency access to Mythos, as disclosed by anonymous sources on Monday morning.
