Investors in Trump Memecoin Face $3.8 Billion Loss, Analysis Shows
Around 1 million people have collectively lost $3.8 billion after investing in President Donald Trump’s $TRUMP memecoin, according to the cryptocurrency analytics firm Nansen.
As reported by The New York Times, Nansen’s analysis is based on blockchain transaction data, revealing that 988,905 accounts had experienced losses on the memecoin by the end of June. This represents roughly two-thirds of all $TRUMP investors.
As of Sunday, the $TRUMP token was priced at $1.69, signifying a nearly 98% drop from its peak of $75.35.
Trump launched the memecoin just three days before his inauguration in 2025, having previously co-founded the crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, with his sons. The $WLFI coin has also seen a significant decline in value.
In a recent financial disclosure, the president reported earning $636 million from the $TRUMP memecoin, which accounts for nearly half of the $1.4 billion he made from the crypto sector last year.
During Trump’s presidency, the Securities and Exchange Commission stated it would not categorize memecoins as securities and has dismissed multiple legal cases against crypto companies. A White House spokesperson informed the NYT, “President Trump proudly established the United States as the crypto capital of the world.”
