AI Legal Startup Norm Raises $120M in Funding, Reaches Unicorn Valuation
On Tuesday, the AI legal startup Norm announced the successful completion of a $120 million Series C funding round, led by Khosla Ventures, which has brought its valuation to $1.2 billion, nearly three years after its founding.
Norm has created an AI-powered law firm, Norm Law, that merges sophisticated AI agents with human attorneys who supervise their operations to deliver legal services to corporate clients. Moreover, the firm is developing AI agents capable of managing other AI agents in their various tasks.
Breaking away from traditional practices, the company chooses to charge clients based on results rather than following the typical hourly billing model.
In line with other legal AI startups such as Harvey and Legora, Norm aims to meet the increasing demand for automation in repetitive legal procedures.
In addition to Khosla Ventures, other investors in Norm’s Series C funding round include Bain, Craft Ventures, Coatue, Vanguard, New York Life, TIAA, Tony James (former president and COO of Blackstone), Jeff Hammes (former chairman of Kirkland & Ellis), and Fenwick LLP. The newly acquired funding will be allocated to enhance product development and hire additional attorneys.
So far, the company has secured over $260 million in total funding.
