AI Legal Startup Norm Raises $120M in Funding, Reaches Unicorn Valuation

On Tuesday, AI legal startup Norm revealed it has raised $120 million in a Series C funding round led by Khosla Ventures, bringing its valuation to $1.2 billion nearly three years post-launch.

Norm has created an AI-powered law firm, Norm Law, which merges its cutting-edge AI agents with human lawyers who supervise their operations, delivering legal services to corporate clients. The firm is also developing AI agents that can oversee other AI agents in their responsibilities.

Breaking away from traditional practices, the company chooses to charge based on results instead of the typical hourly billing method for its services.

In line with the movement of legal AI startups like Harvey and Legora, Norm aims to tackle the increasing demand for automation in repetitive legal processes.

Other investors in Norm’s Series C round include Bain, Craft Ventures, Coatue, Vanguard, New York Life, TIAA, Tony James (former president and COO of Blackstone), Jeff Hammes (former chairman of Kirkland & Ellis), and Fenwick LLP. The new funding will support product development and the recruitment of more attorneys.

So far, the company has secured over $260 million in total funding.
