Meet the Judges Choosing Australia’s Next Breakout Startup
The TechCrunch Startup Battlefield is coming to Australia, and we’ve partnered with Stripe to find the country’s most promising early-stage startups. On August 19, eight groundbreaking Australian startups will present their pitches live at the Stripe Tour Sydney, in front of investors, media, and the tech community. Three fortunate startups will receive prizes, including one that will earn an automatic entry to TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco, set for October 13-15.
What’s the secret to spotting the next standout founder? The judges.
Startup Battlefield has a solid history of success. Over 1,700 startups have participated worldwide, including renowned names like Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello. Its alumni have collectively raised $32 billion in funding and completed over 250 exits. During its last visit to Sydney, HealthMatch took the top spot and is now valued at over $25 million, catering to a million patients globally.
Such achievements are not by chance; they result from having the right individuals on board—those who can recognize potential, challenge norms, and create avenues for founders. This year, we introduce three judges who represent the pinnacle of Australia’s startup ecosystem and global fintech evolution.
Meet Your Judges
Jasmine Liew, Head of Startup & Investor Partnerships for APAC, Stripe

Stripe serves not only as a sponsor of Startup Battlefield but also remains deeply involved in the startup ecosystem. Jasmine Liew brings essential insights into the intricacies of global scaling and the payment frameworks that underpin modern commerce. Entrepreneurs pitching to her engage with someone who understands both the vision and the methods to convert that vision into a lucrative outcome.
Brendan Hill, Angel Investor and Venture Partner, Ten13

Brendan Hill represents the type of investor who actively invests capital. As a venture partner and committed angel investor, he looks at more than just ideas; he considers whether he would put his own money into the team. This viewpoint is vital for founders looking for their next financing round.
Jarron Aizen, Founder and CEO, Hapana

As a founder, Jarron Aizen possesses a unique understanding of the hurdles these eight pitchers will confront. He has navigated the journey from concept to enterprise, making his insights priceless. When he asks a question, it’s grounded in the victories and lessons derived from his experience in the Australian landscape.
What’s at Stake
The grand prize winner will gain $15,000 in Stripe fee credits—substantial funding to facilitate growth—along with direct entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. This isn’t just a reward; it’s a stepping stone for the future. The second-place winner will receive $5,000 in Stripe credits, while the third-place winner will obtain $2,000 in Stripe credits. Furthermore, all finalists will benefit from access to these judges, media exposure, and the chance to connect with the audience of the Stripe Tour Sydney, which includes founders, operators, and investors.
The Main Event is August 19
If you’re an investor, a founder who isn’t ready to pitch, or just someone eager to witness the future of Australian startups, the Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19 is the event you can’t miss. Be sure to register for attendance.
