WhatsApp Resolves Issue Impacting Disabled Accounts

Recently, many users on social media have reported that their WhatsApp accounts are being blocked and placed “under review” by Meta. In response to TechCrunch’s inquiries about this issue, Meta confirmed that they are actively working to restore access to these accounts.

Affected users on X and Threads expressed their frustration, noting that they suddenly lost access to their accounts. When they attempted to log in, WhatsApp displayed a message indicating, “Your account activity and device info is being checked to ensure compliance with our Terms of Service. We aim to notify you of the outcome typically within 24 hours.”

With over 3 billion monthly active users, Meta’s messaging app can experience significant disruptions that impact a vast number of people.

Meta acknowledged the concern and informed TechCrunch that they are making efforts to address it. However, they did not specify whether users from particular regions were affected or what caused the issue.

“We continually strive to outpace those who misuse our service and ban accounts to ensure the safety of our users. Occasionally, mistakes occur, and if they do, we act quickly to correct them and get users back to chatting. We are taking measures to restore the affected accounts,” a company spokesperson stated.

The company did not reveal any specifics regarding the reasons behind the surge in accounts being placed under review.
