Anthropic is Hiring for Its AI Chip Design Team

As reported by Business Insider, Anthropic is building a team to develop custom chips specifically for AI applications.

The creator of Claude has announced intentions to collaborate on both hardware and models to boost the speed and efficiency of its technology. Recently, The Information indicated that Anthropic is considering Samsung as a potential partner for chip development.

This initiative to create proprietary chips aligns with the growing demand for Claude, as AI firms aim to secure numerous AI infrastructure agreements.

Anthropic has formed partnerships with AWS, Google, Nvidia, and AMD for AI computing hardware. However, to scale effectively and meet rising demand, dependence on external resources alone is insufficient.

Anthropic is not the only company pursuing this path; OpenAI disclosed its Jalapeño chip, developed by Broadcom, specifically for inference tasks in June. Google DeepMind has consistently employed Alphabet’s TPU chips for its AI models, while Meta is working on its own MTIA accelerators for similar workloads.

The company is actively seeking engineers with chip design expertise to join its “custom silicon team,” as noted in a recent job posting.

Anthropic has yet to respond to a request for comment.
