Investors Sue Selena Gomez Over Allegations of Fraud Linked to Her Mental Health Startup
Singer and actress Selena Gomez, alongside her mother, is embroiled in a lawsuit concerning their mental health initiative, Wondermind. The plaintiffs allege they invested approximately $1.2 million in the startup and accuse Gomez of securities fraud and breaching her contractual obligations.
They claim that the startup failed to meet its commitments without informing the investors, and that Gomez did not uphold her promise to promote the company. Forbes was the first outlet to report this development.
Established in 2021, Wondermind aimed to provide daily mental health support to its users. The lawsuit contends that investors were unaware of the company’s challenges until an article from The Cut in September 2025 brought them to the forefront.
“Gomez reportedly signed a contract obligating her to perform but then ignored its requirements,” the complaint states. “The partnerships were absent. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never created. And for three years, as the company quietly deteriorated, not one founder, officer, or director communicated with the investors whose funds facilitated the decline.”
The investors assert that Gomez and Wondermind misrepresented the financial status of the company and overstated Gomez’s degree of involvement. The plaintiffs seek to recover their investments and cover their legal costs.
Wondermind has not provided any comments in response to our inquiry.
