Woman Claims Stepfather Altered Childhood Photo to Create Explicit Content Using Grok

A woman, referred to as Jane Doe 4, has joined a lawsuit initiated by three teenagers from Tennessee against Elon Musk’s xAI. The lawsuit addresses allegations related to the company’s chatbot Grok and its potential role in generating child sexual abuse material.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the woman claims her stepfather manipulated a photograph of her at the age of 11 using Grok, leading to the creation of more than 7,000 explicit images of her. She also revealed that her stepfather died by suicide two days after law enforcement discovered the images during a raid.

“The rapid spread of these tools is profoundly disturbing,” she expressed. “Everyday life is becoming entangled with child sexual exploitation.”

The teenagers behind the lawsuit allege that xAI (now part of SpaceX) failed to implement necessary safeguards to prevent Grok from being utilized to produce explicit images of real people, including minors. Earlier this year, X encountered a surge of millions of sexually explicit images generated by Grok. They are seeking class action status for their lawsuit.

TechCrunch has reached out to xAI for their comments concerning this matter.
