Daniel Ek’s Body-Scanning Company, Neko Health, Opens First U.S. Office in New York
Neko Health is preparing to commence its much-anticipated expansion into the U.S. on September 24, which will see the opening of its first American office in SoHo, Manhattan, located at 300 Lafayette Street, a prime destination for luxury shopping.
The company was founded by Daniel Ek, co-founder and CEO of Spotify, and Hjalmar Nilsonne, who currently holds the position of CEO at Neko. The startup has generated significant interest, boasting a waitlist of over 25,000 potential clients in New York City.
Neko Health has developed proprietary body-scanning technology that combines blood tests with data from fitness trackers to deliver a thorough health assessment. The startup operates in the U.K. and Sweden and, following a $700 million Series C funding round last month, has reported that 100,000 individuals have already undergone health scans.
Neko is part of a rapidly growing sector of health scanning startups that are either founded by tech innovators or backed by venture capital. One notable example is Midjourney, recognized for its AI-powered image and video creation tools, which is working on a body scanner intended to enhance the spa experience, with plans to open a location in San Francisco by 2027. In addition, entrepreneurs Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis have launched Fountain Life, a longevity-focused company that provides scans and health assessments. Furthermore, Function Health, co-founded by prominent wellness podcaster Dr. Mark Hyman, has introduced body scans following its acquisition of Ezra and recently secured a $450 million loan from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, which will be repaid through profit-sharing arrangements.
