Neko Health, Co-Founded by Daniel Ek, Opens First U.S. Office in New York to Propel Body Scanning Innovations

Neko Health is poised to kick off its long-anticipated expansion into the U.S. on September 24 by opening its first American office in SoHo, Manhattan, located at 300 Lafayette Street, a renowned area recognized for its upscale retail establishments.

The company was founded by Daniel Ek, co-founder and CEO of Spotify, in partnership with Hjalmar Nilsonne, who holds the position of Neko’s CEO. It has swiftly attracted substantial attention, with a waitlist exceeding 25,000 potential clients in New York City.

Neko Health has unveiled an innovative body-scanning technology that merges blood testing with data collected from fitness trackers to deliver thorough health evaluations. With existing operations in the U.K. and Sweden, the startup has recently completed a $700 million Series C funding round and announced that 100,000 individuals have already completed their health scans.

Neko is part of an increasingly dynamic sector of health scanning startups driven by technological advancements and venture capital backing. A notable rival in this arena is Midjourney, recognized for its AI-enhanced image and video generation capabilities, which is currently developing a body scanner to elevate the spa experience, with plans to launch a location in San Francisco by 2027. Additionally, entrepreneurs Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis have introduced Fountain Life, a company centered on longevity that offers scans and health assessments. Moreover, Function Health, co-founded by the well-known wellness podcaster Dr. Mark Hyman, has initiated body scan services following its acquisition of Ezra and recently obtained a $450 million loan from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, slated to be repaid through profit-sharing agreements.
